Las Vegas, the most populous city of Nevada is internationally known as a city for entertainment, gambling and shopping. It is the entertainment capital of the World that is famous for its lavish casino resorts, adult entertainment and the huge availability of the alcohol beverages. Las Vegas was once called the sin city and because of this image it became a popular setting for television programs and films. The city was established in 1905 but it was officially declared as a city in 1911.

Las Vegas is a major center for tourism, gaming and conventions, and the economy of the city revolves around these three broad drivers. There are scores of companies involved in the manufacturing of electonic gaming machines. Because of its focus on tourism, the city has a thriving retail and dining industry.

Las Vegas is primarily known for its casino. The most poplar casinos are located in the Las vegas strip, also known as Las Vegas Boulevard South. In the early days, all the casinos were at the dowmntown area and it was the main focal point of the city’s gaming industry. Presently, most of the casinos are located in the Fremont Street Experience such as Four Queens, Golden Nugget, Plaza Hotel and Casino, Binion’s Gambling Hall, Las Vegas Club, Calofornia Hotel and Casino and etc.

The casinos in the city provide some memorable entertainment to visitors. Bellagio Fountains in the Belagio Hotel Casino is a visual water symphony that is choreographed to romantic classical music and lights. Fremont Street Experience is another unique light and musical show that attracts visitors from across the globe. Gondola Rides at the Venetian takes visitors on an unforgetable ride through the canal.

About climbing and mountain biking

The city has some beautiful parks and gardens, the prominent of which is Red Rock Canyon. Popular for its 3000-feet high sandstone cliffs, this park provides a lot of opportunities for rock climbing, prime hiking and mountain biking. The Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat is a tropical paradise, housing a number of exotic animal breeds. Its Dolphin Habitat has an amazing display of the antics of these creatures. Shark Reef has an amazing aquarium displaying aligators, sharks, monitor lizards, sea turtles, eels, jellyfish in a huge pool of salt water. The Lion Habitat at the MGM Grand is a wonderful tourist spot, showcasing lions and cubs in their natural habitat. The Circus Cicus Adventuredome Theme Park has some long and interesting rides and roller coasters. The Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a popular tourist destination having paved oval track, drag strip and a dirt track, and is considered to be among the best in the industry with a number of NASCAR events all through the year.

McCarran International Airport is the main airport of Las Vegas. The airport is hub of Southwest Airlines, Airtrans Airways, US Airways and Allegiant Air.
